Kyeson Blake Utley

Founder of Winternitz. Security engineer, Texas.

Background

Kyeson Blake Utley came to security engineering through blockchain forensics. At SpookyGood, the firm he founded in 2020, he traced stolen cryptocurrency for people who had lost savings to romance scams, pig-butchering schemes and fake investment platforms, and ran penetration tests and red-team engagements for clients.

After SpookyGood merged with Justice Solutions Group in 2024, he served as JSG’s chief technology officer and led the build of OnTrial, an AI-assisted investigations platform for attorneys. The same year he co-founded TRFFC, a non-profit Solana project funding investigators who work against human trafficking.

Why this practice

Following stolen funds through mixers, bridges and exchanges shows where digital systems really fail: almost never the cryptography itself, almost always key handling, trust boundaries and the gaps between components. Winternitz exists to build and test systems with those failure points in mind, and to get organizations ready for the quantum attacks that will break today’s public-key cryptography.
